This page does two things: it organises every Airtics course into a clear structure (by qualification level, by specialisation, and by awarding university), and it provides a plain-English glossary of the data, AI, and accreditation terms you’ll meet while choosing a program. Use the category map to find the right course; use the glossary to decode the jargon. New to choosing? Start with our guide on how to choose the right data science or AI course in the UAE.

Part 1 — Course categories

By qualification level

Bachelor’s degrees (3 years) — undergraduate foundations in computing and AI.

Master’s degrees (12–18 months) — postgraduate specialisation for seniority and mobility.

Doctorates (≈3 years) — research and leadership at the highest level.

Postgraduate (PG) diplomas (6–9 months) — focused, career-changing qualifications.

Advanced / short programs (3–6 months) — test a field or master one skill.

Part 2 — Glossary of data, AI & accreditation terms

Plain-English definitions of the terms you’ll see across our programs.

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): computer systems that perform tasks normally needing human intelligence — reasoning, perception, language. Related master’s →
  • Machine Learning (ML): a branch of AI where systems learn patterns from data instead of being explicitly programmed.
  • Deep Learning: ML using multi-layered neural networks; powers modern image, speech, and language AI.
  • Data Science: extracting insight and predictions from data using statistics, programming, and ML. Related master’s →
  • Data Analytics: examining data to describe what happened and inform decisions; often a step toward data science. DS vs analytics →
  • Business Intelligence (BI): tools and processes (dashboards, reporting) that turn data into business decisions. Related diploma →
  • Data Visualization: presenting data graphically (charts, dashboards) so patterns are easy to understand.
  • Generative AI: AI that creates new content — text, images, code — typically using large language models. Related master’s →
  • Large Language Model (LLM): an AI model trained on vast text to understand and generate human language (e.g. the technology behind chat assistants).
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP): the field enabling computers to understand and generate human language. Related diploma →
  • Computer Vision: AI that interprets images and video — object detection, recognition, image analysis. Related diploma →
  • Cybersecurity: protecting systems, networks, and data from digital attacks. Related master’s →
  • Quantum Computing: computing that uses quantum mechanics (qubits) to solve certain problems far faster than classical computers.
  • Python: the most widely used programming language in data science and AI, valued for readability and its data/ML libraries.
  • Full Stack Development: building both the front-end (what users see) and back-end (servers, databases) of web applications. Related diploma →
  • Power BI: Microsoft’s business-analytics tool for building interactive dashboards and reports.
  • ECTS: the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System; a 60-ECTS master’s represents one year of full-time study, recognised across Europe.
  • PG Diploma: a postgraduate diploma — a focused qualification shorter than a master’s, ideal for switching into a role quickly.
  • Master’s Degree: a postgraduate degree (typically 12–18 months) that deepens expertise and supports senior roles.
  • Doctorate (PhD / DBA / Doctor of Technology): the highest academic qualification, centred on original research or applied leadership.
  • Accreditation: formal recognition that an institution or program meets quality standards set by a recognised authority.
  • KHDA: the Knowledge and Human Development Authority — Dubai’s education regulator; often attests training certificates.
  • MOHESR: the UAE Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, which recognises higher-education qualifications in the UAE.
  • OPM (Online Program Management): a provider (like Airtics) that partners with universities to deliver and support their accredited programs online.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between a PG diploma and a master’s?
A PG diploma is a shorter, focused qualification ideal for switching into a role quickly; a master’s is longer, broader, and supports long-term seniority and mobility.

Are Airtics’ online degrees recognised in the UAE?
Airtics delivers degrees awarded by accredited universities (e.g. UCAM and ESIC in Spain, Woolf in Malta, UTAMED), recognised through their national accreditors and the European ECTS system. For UAE government roles that require local equivalency, check recognition with MOHESR — we’ll guide you through it during admissions.

Can I study while working full-time in the UAE?
Yes. Programs are delivered online with flexible, part-time schedules designed around working professionals, so you keep earning while you study.

Do I need a technical or IT background to enrol?
Not always. Foundation and beginner-friendly options (such as Mastering Python for Data Science or an Advanced Program) are built for career-changers, while master’s programs suit those with relevant experience. An advisor can match you to the right entry point.

How long does each qualification take?
Roughly: short/Advanced Programs 3–6 months, PG diplomas 6–9 months, master’s degrees 12–18 months, and doctorates around 3 years.

How much does a master’s in data science cost in the UAE?
It varies by program and university; accredited online/European programs are generally more affordable than on-campus options. Payment plans are often available — contact an advisor for current fees and intake dates.

Are these qualifications valid outside the UAE?
Yes — European degrees built on the ECTS credit system are internationally recognised, which supports career mobility across the GCC and beyond.

Should I choose a diploma, a master’s, or a short program?
It depends on your goal: a short program to test the field, a PG diploma to switch roles quickly, a master’s for long-term seniority. See our full guide on how to choose the right course.

What’s the difference between generative AI and traditional AI?
Traditional AI typically classifies or predicts from data (e.g. fraud detection); generative AI creates new content such as text, images, or code using large language models.
